These were there just a week ago!

We already had a “volunteer” fairytale from our own garden, so Art insisted we buy other things this year. If you buy them, please don’t just use them as decoration! They are so pretty, but also good to eat. Most fall squash and pumpkins will last for a really long time. They are a great food for getting fresh local vegetables in the winter. Stock up now before they are gone.

If you go, take

I had an amazing sighting today. I was walking from Georgetown to Farragut North to head to the We Love DC anniversary party and I saw a bright yellow van-like thing with the words “Sweetgreen” on the front at the corner of 24th and M NW. Then I saw someone walk away with yogurt. Precious, delicious Sweetgreen FroYo!

Now you might wonder why DC Harvest would write about some yogurt chain? Well, Sweetgreen is a DC Harvest favorite. Not only are they super eco-friendly, but they’ve also been quoted as having he desire to get as much of the produce for their yummy salads from local farmers as possible! Just another reason to love them.

“We feel that the carbon footprint of local produce is much smaller, it’s supporting the local economy, and it’s fresher,” Jammet says.” — MetropolisMag

But, back to the amazing Sweetgreen Mobile. While buying my cone of “sweetflow” I chatted with Tim, the cutie SweetFlow Mobile guy. He told me they’d had the mobile service up and running for about 3 weeks and that he drives all over the city. You can find out where he’s going to be by following him (of course) on Twitter @sweetflowmobile.

I think the Sweetgreen frozen yogurt is the best in the city. If you haven’t made it to one of the Sweetgreen locations yet — maybe Tim and the SweetFlow mobile will come to you!
