Show on mapCibola Farms, founded in 1999 by Mike Sipes and Rob Ferguson, is a provider of fresh, local, humanely raised meat in the DC area – with a twist. They raise and sell bison, grass-range poultry, free-range pork and smoky mountain goat. They sell a wide variety of cuts – everything from bison brisket and hotdogs to pork chops.
You can purchase their products at their farm “trading post,” farmers markets, and they even have online purchase with FedEx delivery for a limited selection of products. Cibola Farms can be found at more than a dozen local farmers markets including Dupont Circle (DC) and Falls Church (VA). See their website for a full listing of which farmers markets you can find them at.
If you visit the front gate trading post to purchase your meat, be sure to leave time for a self-guided walking tour. How often do you get to see bison on the east coast? The self-guided tour is open to the public during “normal daylight business hours.”
